Life at Ameriana

Over the last several years, Ameriana has taken significant steps to reshape itself as a community bank that engages our customers in more genuine and innovative ways. Our associates are excited to bring our core values, as well as their talents and strengths, into delivering highly personal customer service. Here are just a few examples of associate programs and initiatives which are a part of life at Ameriana.

Mentor Program

Ameriana understands the difficulties and challenges that are a part of any new job. Our Mentor Program helps by assisting new staff in feeling welcomed and it provides professional and personal development for both participants in the mentoring relationship. For the Mentee, a mentor serves as an “instant” friend at Ameriana, as a trusted advisor or guide, and provides a confidential and safe environment for sharing. The relationship is collaborative rather than a directive role in decision-making or problem solving. Mentors are selected based on their leadership qualities, job performance and an overall understanding of the Ameriana organization. New associates are matched with a mentor for this 6-month program within the first 30 days of employment at Ameriana.

Community Involvement

As a community bank, Ameriana believes in investing in and supporting organizations in our local communities. In 2008, Ameriana Bank’s 169 associates contributed more than 1,100 volunteer hours to various community causes. Ameriana’s volunteer program allows all associates to volunteer in the community 32 hours each year during regular paid working hours. Associates spent time in schools, nursing homes, local homeless shelters, hospitals, food pantries, and with United Way and United Fund events and more.  Learn more about Ameriana’s volunteer efforts, or  request volunteers for your community group.

Ameriana’s Best

Creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and enthusiasm is important at Ameriana. Our “Ameriana’s Best” program embodies this idea by rewarding and recognizing our associates for their contributions and ideas which contribute to the Bank’s success.

Ameriana’s Best provides a forum for associates to give valuable feedback, suggestions, eco-green ideas, or to simply say “great job” to a fellow associate. A task force, representing various positions and locations at the bank, reviews the nominations and recognizes and rewards associates monthly, and at the Bank’s annual Delivery Conference.

Delivery Conference

At Ameriana, we are committed to having fun! Yes, you can have fun at work. Fun comes from being passionate about your role in serving customers. At our annual Delivery Conference, the entire day is packed with fun activities, guest speakers representing the leaders in the customer experience, as well as Ameriana’s Best annual awards ceremony.

Sharing Ideas

Associates ideas and contributions are important at Ameriana, and what creates extraordinary service for our customers. Through associate satisfaction surveys, town hall meetings and internal focus groups, we provide our associates opportunities to voice their opinions and ask questions - keeping lines of communication open.
